Preventing accidents session plans

A series of 15 laminated session plans, with flashcards on the reverse, for you to run effortless educational sessions or mini-sessions with parents of babies and young children.

Product code: SES001

The preventing accidents session plan pack is very versatile – it can be used for bite-sized sessions focusing on one type of accident (such as blind cord strangulation), grouped together by age or used as a whole – you choose! And at just £25.00 plus P&P it’s very good value for money.

Whether you’ve got an hour or two or just 20 minutes with parents, these are effective, easy-to-use resources which instantly draw parents’ attention to the risks of accidents.

On the front of each card is a full-colour illustration – taken from our pictorial booklet As I grow and change I can… – which clearly depicts the accident scenario. Use these flashcards as part of your session with parents.

On the back there’s a session plan for you. This outlines the aims and learning outcomes, the resources you’ll need to bring the session to life, surprising safety facts, sample questions to put to parents plus safety advice so you can discuss why children are at risk, how it relates to their development and, crucially, how to prevent accidents happening.

The cards are divided into three key stages of development:

  • Because I’m a growing baby
  • Now I’m a toddler
  • Now I’m getting bigger – young children under five.

They’re the ultimate flexible resource, designed to be very easy to use and can be used over and over again. We think they’re an essential piece of kit for anyone working with parents of young children.

Each pack comes with information on how to get the most out of your session and importantly, an evaluation form which can be photocopied and completed by parents. This will help you to demonstrate the impact of your services to Ofsted and others.
