Who shares your agenda around saving children’s lives on the roads? What stops you working with colleagues in other departments? How do you learn about the priorities, terminology and performance outcomes of other agencies so you can identify opportunities for joint working? Children continue to die or be seriously injured on our roads, but with budgets and resources tightly stretched, it can be hard to deliver child road safety. However, even in these hard-pressed times, some areas are finding creative, collaborative ways to deliver services with significant impacts by maximising shared resources. Hosted by West Midlands Fire Service in conjunction with the Child Accident Prevention Trust, and with funding from the Department for Transport, this FREE seminar is an opportunity for service providers and commissioners to come together and think ‘outside the silos’ about linking up services to save children’s lives on the roads. It will be chance to identify the barriers and consider the most practical ways to overcome these. This event is aimed at everyone with an opportunity to influence or determine ways of working between departments, across local authority boundaries or by bringing together the not for profit sector with the statutory sector. This includes: Road safety - both engineering and ETP Public health Trauma care Fire and rescue service Education and Children’s services Charities working with children and families The day will combine a range of short presentations from areas who have created innovative joint working programmes (including Birmingham’s Connected Transport Vision) and will share both the opportunities and the challenges they’ve faced. There will also be opportunities for questions, facilitated discussions, networking and exchanging information. During the lunch hour there will be a marketplace and you are encouraged to bring along and share materials about any innovative road safety work you are involved with. This event is now full.
