Training from CAPT

Course on "Child accident prevention and risk management"

Each year, two million children are taken to hospital as a result of accidents. As a front line practitioner working with parents and children, we’re here to support you in making child accident prevention a priority.

This one-day interactive course, the dates of which are shown here,  will give you:

  1. insight into the causes and effects of childhood accidents
  2. knowledge of good practice in accident prevention and risk management
  3. an understanding of the links between child development and accidents
  4. examples of good practice
  5. practical advice on accident prevention

It is designed for people who work directly with families, including Children’s Centre employees, health visitors and parenting and family support workers

It can also contribute to professional development for anyone with childcare responsibilities, especially those who have a responsibility for managing child safety in their setting.

Course content is guaranteed to be up to date with thinking on child safety and has been developed to reflect the emphasis on children’s activity in strategic documents such as Every Child Matters. Our trainers are knowledgeable and experienced in the field of accident prevention, and focus on bringing out the best in delegates through lively, interactive sessions.

At the end of the day, all delegates will receive a resources pack with a relevant selection of key CAPT publications and fact sheets. They will also receive a certificate in the post shortly after their training to acknowledge their participation.
